Laptop computer problem, wont boot up, green power light comes on. Ideas?

This laptop worked fine until two weeks ago when it would not boot up. When hit the power button, the green power light and the hard drive light comes on but that is all it does.

Remove the battery and plug it in, power on?? Can you get it going plugged in without the battery?

Take notice of the led lights. Does the green light stay on or blink? Which one come on, and if it blinks, the way it blinks will let the tech know whats going on. Sounds exactly like the prolem I have, dell tech says the motherboard needs to be replaced, yikes! (*keep in touch, let me know if you get it fixed, blah blah blah, seriously, if you remember, thx)

Try the Toshiba site support, see if you can get a support tech to troublrshoot with you(hopefully they have someone to do this) if not check to see if they have like an archive you can search through. Or contact them by email and phone. If you need it fixed right away, find a local repair shop that specializes in laptops.

Possibilities: virus infection, need a new battery, you need a new motherboard, need a new harddrive, need a new dc jack, a new power supply/cord, or maybe its just time you need a new laptop?? . If not, go to Toshiba site ASAP!! Good luck!

try connecting it to a monitor, your screen might have just went bad, if it did you can just use the monitor or have the screen replaced. Ebay is a good place to find a new screen for a good price if your a do it your self kinda person, if not take it to a small computer shop, not a big box store.

Try taking the battery out and plugging it in without the battery. I had a laptop that had some battery problems when it got older, and it did what your is doing

Could also be a virus that affects the boot process. A lot of antivirus software allows you to make a boot disk that you can run an antivirus off of.

It sounds like you have a virus effecting your boot sector or some how you have deleted a system file like ntldr removing software or you may have harddisk problems.

Most likely - one of the RAM modules is dead. Try removing the one that is in the base of your notebook and then reboot.
