Shouldn’t our President reinstall solar panels on the White House?
President Carter tried to help lead our country toward alternative energy by installing solar panels in the roof of the White House. Soon after arriving in DC, Reagan promptly removed them. I believe our President should lead by example and that our first family should be more "green" than most of the rest of us. Overhaul the executive fleet and only use fuel efficient vehicles, add solar panels to the grandeur of the White House, and recycle. Agreed?

Bush should, but he will not. I saw a picture of him in Yahoo news Monday, of him waving to reporters from behind the TRIPLE 275 horsepower engines of his boat. What is this guy doing, running drugs?
Bush will never put solar panels on the White House, because not only is he an oil baron, like his VP Cheney, but he feels that snipers, and anti-aircraft guns would suit him better.
When he goes around in his motorcade, they drive the least fuel efficient models made. He is a good example of what people should NOT do.

Well said.

I can’t believe Reagan took them down! And, yes, our government should lead us by example. George Bush’s Texas home is highly efficient.

Bush doesn’t believe in solar panels. The jury is still out. Also, I think he has some conflicting science on if the sun actually produces energy.

Presidents only touch hammers when it’s a good photo op–and that includes Carter. (Yeah, I’m having a hard time believing Reagan took them down, too. In fact, I’m having a hard time believing they ever existed.)

And why didn’t AlGore have his buddy put them up when they were in power?
Could it be that he wasn’t on his crusade yet?

Absolutely. If it really is such a "good thing" you’d think they’d be the first to implement it.
Why don’t they jet "pool" while they’re campaigning…..or better yet…..bike across America!!!! (peddle bikes….not motorcycles) Probably be about the most connected time they’ve ever spent with the rest of America.
