I like many of the rest of you know the answer to this question.

Many of us know that big Corporations have a vested interest in not legalizing this truly magical plant.

Im just tired of people thinking they know whats best for YOU. If an idiot can jump off a building cause he lost it all in the stock market I should be able to smoke or use a plant the way I know it can add to bettering my life without some jacka$$ shoving a law down my throat so that ill buy his product.

I hope my generation has seen the lies and the corporate greed and some how wait till these old conservatives that only think of money and corporate gains for their stockholders, die off to get the job done.

There are too many good answers and some stupid replies that even had validity, however we must educate the rest of the masses or they might just use coal as the alternative to petroleum.

how to buy solar penel for redential electricity?

another word how to have a green energy for house.

Why do environmentalists oppose all new power projects– even when they are 100% GREEN?

It would seem so– as they continue to oppose new 100% GREEN power projects– !

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/…

Is GW just a scam — promoted by environmental groups like the Sierra Club and Greenpeace to secure funding– or are they serious about switching to green power?– will they just oppose all new green projects, and increase the implementation costs of solar and other green energy?
Sorry — try this link–
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/21/feinstein-dont-spoil-desert-solar-panels/
EDIT- and as I have previously predicted — endangered animals will be used to sop both wind power farms and solar power farms–
Dana– I hope you are correct- as I also believe we need to move to solar and wind– but for different reasons than GW. However here in Texas the Sierra Club has opposed several wind farm projects and a low level nuclear waste disposal area. This is not the only example.
I make them out to be– I did not write that article– nor did I go before the press and oppose the project.
For example-
400 acres on top of a mountain
http://maryland.sierraclub.org/action/p0133.asp

Grassland In Kansas
http://www.heartland.org/publications/environment%20climate/article/16205/Kansas_Audubon_Society_Opposes_Wind_Farm.html

Extensive study supported- this just means slowing or stopping the project
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/climate/2004-12-29-wind-power_x.htm
Now don’t get me wrong– I SUPPORT - green energy– but the environmental groups numerous legal roadblocks — slow the change to green– or raise the cost of the project. TWO years or more to get a permit for a solar farm?
I see that the not in my backyard– syndrome has surfaced.

Seeing what Obama has done, who thinks McCain had a better approach to helping our economy?

I think stabilizing the Housing Market with the 1st bail-outs money would have been the best thing to do. I also think building Nuclear plants would have been a big ‘job creator’ and an ‘GREEN energy’ solution. I also feel that his plan to cut tax on Businesses would have helped in this struggling economy, so why did we not elect that guy again?

Is the Alberto Gonzales Karl Rove Lawyer firing fiasco a great bargaining chip for the democrats?

Could they let it slide if they get something big in return? Would it be similar to the Missouri comprimise negociated by Henrey Clay that averted the civil war for years? Maybe they could trade dropping the investigation of him for something like much improved enviromental protection? A big real serious effort to stop and fix global warming ASAP? Passing laws that actually quickly convert to Green Energy and achieve Energy Independence?, higher fuel efficiency standerds for planes, trains, big rigs, and cars and trucks? Species and Habit protection? A ban on the dirtiest technologies if replacible with cleaner? A law to phase out the sale of incandencent lightbulbs for new more efficient replacements? An honest real closed or open door debate in the full senate and house that actually finds the best possible solution that can be thought up for how to make the most possible out of Iraq and Afganistan and get out of there as gracefully, successfully and quickly as possible?
Would this allow both sides to gain something or at least one side gain something so the other wouldn’t lose something? Republicans AND DEmocrats what do you all think?
I donno maybe it would over politicize the persuit of justice in our country? Maybe that’s happened already? I donno you tell me.
ok well, at the very least something could be worked maybe behind closed doors that lets the republicans save face in exchange for something they should have agreed to in the first place that helps the enviroment and economy at the same time. Hows that sound?

Instead of blaming OPEC for our oil addiction, why don't we go ahead and invest in non-fossil fuel energy?

House dems approved legislation to basically sue OPEC for price-fixing.

It sounds good and makes the dems look like tough guys but no amount of anti-trust laws or threats to cut them off from our US made war toys will change the fact that we are economically addicted to a finite resource which is now starting to go into decline.

I know somebody wants to talk to me about Anwar or coal in the pacific northwest but we really need to stay away from that.

Think what you want about climate change but I think we can all agree that we don’t know for a fact that we are not changing the environment. Given that uncertainty, it would be colossaly stupid of us to invest in new technology to refine this coal into oil, because once we do we’ll be committed to using it until it’s gone. But if we invest in green energy then we’ll be ok if climate change is real or not.

Now is the time to invest in new energy, we have a choice to make; more fossils or green energy. Which do you prefer?
ugh jaime - PROFITS?!?! I could care less about profits, I care about the human species having a future.
Uranium is still a finite resource and is nothing more than putting off this decision for future generations, besides where are we going to put all that toxic waste?
Boss H - alternative fuels will only ruin the economy for those who run the energy industry now. Why? Because it is inherently a decentralized system. It will be harder for them to turn a profit when we have towns and communities are generating their own energy. It will be a financially good thing for most of the planet, except for those who are the most powerful.
Chopper - screw ethanol, my belly is more important than my gas tank.

Also screw hydrogen.

Is anybody buying ‘green energy’ from their power company?

I have the option of buying green energy from my power company, Puget Sound Energy, but in light of the recent scandals in energy trading, is anyone else a bit sceptical that your money will actually go toward the purchase of so called green energy? If anyone is an expert or has some knowledge, or can offer reassurance, I’d be grateful.

Do you have a problem going green?

Deniers all day your on here telling me how you think Global warming is not man made, or you don’t even believe it’s happening! But my question is why do you resist the change to green energy? Wouldn’t you like for your house and car to be powered by free energy from the sun????? meanwhile cleaning out all the polluted air out of the city so we can breath???? Why do you resist a change for the better
With this push for green technology will come cheap solar cells.. you will be off the grid and free energy for every one.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Push the green movement now and the solar panels will get there. and yes once the technology is there and man can recreate it there is no way to charge you for sun power

What are some advantages that nuclear power has over green energy?

Its for a debate in school and I didn’t even want to do this topic. I was for green energy but the teacher is dumb. I’d like all the help I can get. Thanks ^_^

I have a suggestion for global warming - what do you think?

Anyone with a home of over 10,000 square feet must modify the home to be powered solely on solar power or wind power.

After all, every little bit helps, and people who live in 10,000 plus square foot houses have huge carbon footprints due to their heating and power requirements. If every house over that size was powered by green energy, it would definitely reduce pollution, dependence on oil/coal, etc.

If you support efforts to reduce carbon emissions, do you also support this suggestion? If not, why not?
I’m not suggesting that we allow carbon offsets. I’m suggesting that if Global Warming is real, then Al Gore and Sheryl Crow and others who live in giant homes should have no issue with modifying them to be completely green. No credits available.
smcgilli….. you must have missed my point.

The people clamoring for us to use one sheet of toilet paper, and turn the heat down to 67 degrees, live in 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 square foot mansions. My suggestion is, if they are right and global warming is going to kill the planet, then they should have no objection to turning their luxury homes completely green. Right? Wanna bet how fast they’d sidestep this….?
sarge — you missed the point too…. you’re talking about what’s "fair." What would be "fair" is if Sheryl Crow and Al Gore HAD THE SAME CARBON FOOTPRINT AS YOU AND ME. People in 10,000 square foot homes in Malibu, and private villas, and airports in their front yards, are telling you and me that WE have to spend money greening out homes, but they don’t green theirs. WE have to drive hybrid cars and bio-diesel, they say - but they fly in jets 100 times per year — WE have to use one square of toilet paper, and THEY make sure their entourages and themselves are bathed in luxuries while on "tour" and making movies (which are pure luxuries - and major pollution sources).

If the government is really serious about green energy wouldn’t it make sense to subsidize solar power?

By this I mean subsidize for citizens. What would the effect of making funds available to homeowners to add solar power to their houses have.
It would reduce emissions.
It would increase power production.
It would spur new innovations in technology.
It would create new business and jobs required to meet demand in the marketplace.

This money would not have to be handouts, but rather could take the form of government insured loans and tax incentives. The tax incentives and yearly energy cost savings would help the average family repay the loans.

Thoughts?
Ed J: I am familiar with what is in the stimulus bill and it is very limited in this area and nowhere near the type of investment I am talking about. It simply provides tax break for those who install solar appliances.
how_would_I_know: the technology is improving all the time in this area. No one says that solar is the complete answer. Massive investment in solar based on sales would lead to improvements in collection effeciency though. As for wind power. This is not a realistic idea for the average home based on the size and noise factors involved.
bkc99xx: You don’t get it. You are going to subsidize this research regardless. Obama is planning a massive expansion of green energy programs in his new budget, but rather than providing you with an avenue to help defer costs (i.e. home generated solar which can be returned to the grid and must be bought from the producer at premium kiowatt per hour rate) his plan will dramatically increase your monthly costs for energy with no plan for offset in cost.
bkc99xx: I said subsidies, but this is not really the correct word except in the case of tax breaks. The money would actually be in the form of secured loans. Yes I do know how much the cost of the system installation would be in my case. Roughly 15000 dollars and I have estimated that it would take roughly 15 years for the system to begin to produce a surplus financially. However this estimate is based on current kilowatt per hour rates in my area. The one thing I am absolutely sure of is that this cost will increase over the lifetime of the system making it more cost effective with time even when you factor in proposed maintenance costs.
Interesting answers which I enjoyed reading. I am going to send this question to a vote. Thanks to all for taking the time.

Why doesn’t the American public pound their US representatives about electro magnetic energy?

This energy source will eliminate many concurrent problems facing the US and the world yet we the people continue to be manipulated in believeing that the energy sources that are being utilized are the only sources available to us. Now, anyone who wants to thoroughly research this subject will ultimately come across electro magnetic energy. This subject seems to be the most controversial subject that enters the US patent office in years. Many scientists and engineers have been silenced and threatened to stop work on inventions that could possibly place the current status quo energy companies at risk????Congresswoman Berkley recently placed a bill before the house to revive the Office Technological Assessment. Here could be the beginning of a thorough investigation into the feasibility of such green energy sources and provide the public and their representatives a true scientific fact finding group to enhance the knowledge so one can become more versed in issues that are before us.

Are there any Canadian Grants/Tax Benifits for installing and using Green Energy sources in your home?

Are there any Canadian Grants/Tax Benifits for installing and using Green Energy sources in your home - such as putting in solar panels, windmills, etc?

I’ve been thinking of using alternative energy sources when I buy my own house. However I know they are expensive. I was hoping that the government would have some sort of Tax break or grant or some way of financially helping with this sort of thing.

Also, if there is a website or phone number of relevance where I can get more information on this, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Is “Green” energy all hype?

Look how many solar panels are required just to heat a pool. Imagine providing heat and electricity to run ALL household appliances for ALL Americans nationwide?

It takes a 70 foot Ginormous wind turbine just to provide enough power for 1 house.

How much would it cost for all this "green" energy Machinery to be built to provide for the ENTIRE nation!?!?

My solution: let each family provide their own "green" energy, and not tax me to death to provide for my neighbors; olympic swimming pool.

"Reality" scientists are still debating weather c02 emissions have anything to do with temperature, so quit with the talking points.
"Quirk" green energy is going backwards. You cant even power a toaster with some of this stuff!
"Mysterious" I work with both combustion and electric motors. Anyone will tell you, combustion is far more efficient in raw power and cost.

An electric engine cannot power a car the same way, and is far more expensive to repair due to the complexity of the internal coiling and bearings.
g, if you read the question, I added my solution in there. And like they say "a picture says a thousand words.."
Willie" NATURAL GAS BACKUP" LOL

Why the backup willie, maybe because GREENIE energy FAILED to power the building!!!
And they "had the panels removed" Lol

You fail
"mnbvc" finally, a good answer. I too thought about deep current turbines, they make sense because of the constant flow. Also, nuclear would be the best viable option.
"g" there is NO oil crisis. It is made up by OPEC to drive up price. OPEC is having tankers dump excess oil into the oceans, because they cant fit all their tankers into the ports!!!
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/12469
"g" if you care so much, why dont YOU pay for a big turbine installation on my lawn, I’ll get you the local permit fee schedule..

green building project question?

i have a school project, and i have to build a scale model green (energy saving) house. some how i have to make the inside colder than out side. any suggestions on how i should make the house? or how to make it colder?

p.s. i already had the idea of putting ice inside to make it colder. but it would melt.

Where could a person find funding for a green energy invention ?

Someone I know is looking for funding to build a green energy invention. Can't give details because inventions have to be protected, but if anyone knows of a real source of funding for this kind of thing your help would be nice. It has to be available to the average person though, not scientists and so on.
Also this invetion so far has no working models, but it does not use any kind of fuel and produces no pollution. It is a power unit that will be used to turn a generator to produce electric.

Oil is skyrocketing, therefore green energy stocks should…?

Oil shot up like mad today, right. So, should green energy stocks (eg: solar, wind, energy cells: comv, eslr, ftek, fcel) go up or down? Why?

Would it be smart to invest in green energy at the moment?

or possibly start my own green energy company?

Aquila Green Energy Petition Writing Help?

In my city we have only one energy provider to choose from: Aquila Energy. Unfortunately Aquila has no program in place to allow for consumers to purchase renewable “green” energy only. I have contacted their offices a number of times via phone and email to encourage them to look into implementing such a program but their reps don’t have the slightest clue what I’m talking about and my emails go unanswered.

Since I have had no luck in getting anyone at Aquila to respond to my inquiries and appeals to implement such a program I have decided to create an online petition to let Aquila’s customers speak up

Because this is a big undertaking I want to make sure that I get the petition right the first time. I am going to address it to Aquila’s corporate office with a CC to the Missouri Board of Energy, should any others be involved/CC’d?

Do you have any general petition writing hints or tips?

What “green energy” stock should I invest in??

Or should I at all. I have a feeling that this green energy movement is going to stick. What do you think. And which stock(s) are the way to go for “green”?

How will Green Energy Production effect Food Production?

I was asked to do a report for Science on this question.

I dont understand the "Green Energy Production" part of that question… if you can tell me what you think it means, and find a website that is answering this question in some way, it'd be a huge help.

Should oil companies only be eligible for any government money if they use it all on switching to green energy

Would this help steer things in the right direction without harming the economy or costing any jobs? They could use some of it on job retraining to switch from oil jobs to green energy jobs and some on research, some on devolopment, some on advertising and the rest on producing green energy for new demand and to replace dirty energy production which would HAVE to be phased out in order to prevent the damage to the climate from the green house gases they would emit if they weren't replaced.

Are halogen lamps considered energy efficient,( “green”)?

I'm referring to green as in, a green energy efficient house, car, lighting, solar power, etc.

Should I buy stock in green energy?

I'm looking to make a long term investment. I just don't know of any big green energy companies yet. Could anyone tell me what a good company there is out there I could invest in?

Barack Obama and his green energy and construction jobs, when can we expect to see them?

I've done a lot of research about these jobs, but I want some more info…I'm at the point in my life where I need to decide on a career and skilled labor jobs seem like the way to go for me.

CareerCritique has some good reviews which I read:

http://www.careercritique.com/addcomments.php?cid=50

When do you guys think we'll start to see the Obama Green construction jobs and green energy jobs?
