For a school project (AP environmental), we have to design and construct a model of a "green"/energy-efficient house. we need 60 (yes, sixty!) eco-friendly/green/energy-efficient components in the house.
ANY IDEAS??? thank you lots!!
so far i have:
-adobe walls (control temp, cheap, eco-friendly)
-solar panels
-rainwater collection
-greywater recycling
-rain garden
-xeriscaping

I'm curious to hear what some of the financing & cultural challenges are to getting traditional energy companies to adopt green technologies? In particular, I know that many green energy sources require significant up-front investment today to capture the benefits of potentially grid-parity kwh production in the future.
How does financing work in the energy industry today around the world and is it possible that the way energy production is financed might hinder large investments?
Also, what some of the cultural challenges to green adoption? For example, are $/Watt and $/kwh even the right metrics to use when thinking about the economics of adopting green technologies?

Hello,
I would like to compare the costs of the energy costs of the fuels we use today (non renewable) to the current cost of green energy (solar wind water etc). What is the best way to do this?

burning fossil fuels, such as coal, is contributing to global climate change, including dramatic changes in Canadian arctic. Should we consider using nuclear power as a “green” energy source for canada?
plz give me reasons why we shouldn’t use nuclear power as a green energy source for canada.
Thx!

I am willing to train up to a year, but I am not sure which direction to go into. I am not an engineer but have scientific background. I think our economy is going in this direction and there will be opurtunities in the green energy area. Please let me know any area's of green energy carreers that is interesting and has decent salary with advancement? Thanks.

I know how carbon credits are used but I noticed that some companies claim that they "buy green energy credits" as though it's a positive thing. Don't companies want to advertise that they sell credits because they don't use all theirs up?

Wouldn't it make more sense to call it "green," "clean," or "renewable" energy? Just what exactly is green energy an alternative to? Is it an alternative to global warming, dependency on fossil fuels, deforestation, depletion of the earth's resources, extinction of several species, and acid rain? Is it an alternative to fighting wars over oil, oil lobbyists trying to run the show, and large corporations getting tax breaks and large subsidies? It doesn't sound like an alternative to me; it sounds like a solution. What do you think?
