so what if it takes away jobs dont you think this planet is worth more then that? i seen GMC truck dodge and ford getting bigger and bigger.. why do people need such a big thing? YOU DONT! all the money they use for production on then things that pump pure carbon into the air could go into production of Energy efficient cars and truck.. then with the production you would have your jobs back dont you think?
jnt: if your daddy works at ford then he can go work some other place BIG DEAL its only a job ..there other job.. besides maybe he could work at a new company making energey efficant cars.. and the comment about God! well God is helping he is showing us the damage and for the humans to use there brains!!!
cambl:stop having kids! population is part of the problem, and you think becuase new cars get better gas milage? so what there still burning crap into the air!! its 2008 almost!! like one person said "compresed air!! good idea! and yes i do got old cars.. they never been driven in 5 years and will remain that way.. I DONT DRIVE THEM ITS A HOBBY.. I RESPECT THIS PLANT MORE .. THEN MY HOBBY IF I HAD TO BURN THEM TO SAVE THE PLANT.. I WOULD IN A SECOND

I mean do they really care about energy conservation? If they did wouldn’t they be encouraging people to stay home to conserve gas instead of driving to the theatre to see their new movie.
Penelope Cruz wants to know how to make her house green? Can’t she just hire someone to paint it? C’mon celebs, put your money where your mouth is.
Are the celebs really asking their own questions or is it their drunken overworked assistants? Inquiring minds wanna know.

I am 20 years old, I work for Verizon Wireless. I do have a 401k started. Basically I just wanted to invest my money in a very safe way that would yield good returns over a long length of time because right now my money is just sitting in my bank account doing nothing. In other words I’m not looking for the get rich quick stocks. Also how much of my paycheck should I devote to investing as opposed to just saving because you never know when the stock market could crash etc. My grandparents have a crap load of GE stock which seems to be a reliable one…just throwin it out there. I’d really appreciate any responses and please break it down to me because obviously I am not savvy with market terms etc…im green…a newbie. THANKYOU!

I think stabilizing the Housing Market with the 1st bail-outs money would have been the best thing to do. I also think building Nuclear plants would have been a big ‘job creator’ and an ‘GREEN energy’ solution. I also feel that his plan to cut tax on Businesses would have helped in this struggling economy, so why did we not elect that guy again?

I have the option of buying green energy from my power company, Puget Sound Energy, but in light of the recent scandals in energy trading, is anyone else a bit sceptical that your money will actually go toward the purchase of so called green energy? If anyone is an expert or has some knowledge, or can offer reassurance, I’d be grateful.

If we don’t reduce our GHG(green house gas) emmisions by 70 percent by 2050, civilization as we no it may not survive the next century. Is it so hard to save money and the world be being more energy efficient?

Nuclear power plants create huge amounts of energy from very little fuel, and the waste they produce, while admittedly dangerous, is localized and easy to take care of. You have the spent uranium rods, but you basically just need to lock those up and bury those, and wait for the radioactivity to die. Chernobyl was an unusual disaster; they didn’t have any of the advanced safety systems we have today, and they overrode the automatic processes that were there.
We could even just clean up coal. Get rid of the carbon, mercury and other crap. It would work pretty well.
We could eliminate our dependence on petroleum if we took a hint from Brazil.
Solar power needs some time to mature, but if we just used more effective appliances it would work quite well. Same for wind.
Petroleum is just so outdated and dirty. Despite the username, I’m a strong supporter of the free market. I understand how economics come in to play, but money doesn’t mean much if the world’s underwater.

I would like to stock up on green peppers this summer while the price is low due to the abundance. But I’m cheap; don’t want to spend money on something I might have to throw away because freezing didn’t work.

I just got a chunk of money back from filing my taxes. I want to start investing for my future (retirement) but my moral and values go against investing in anything that is not environmentally friendly. Does anyone know anything about investing in eco friendly stocks? websites? advice?

In the next 2-3 years my husband and I want to start building a house. We want to make it ecofriendly. We are planning on installing solar panals, but beyond that we are not sure what our option are. We would like some info on things we can do in the building process to save money and energy. If anyone has any tips/hint/suggestion/advice we would greatly appreciate it. Also, any great website suggesion would be appreciated too. Thanks, Stace

Could gyms across the World use their treadmills, bikes & weight machines to generate electricity? And provide power to their own lights and maybe even to the grid - practical or impractical?
Much of the homeless have always been Green by recycling cans. Maybe homeless shelters could get treadmilss from Gyms acquiring new ones and have an option for the homeless to make some money by generating electricity.

If your Utility company offered you “green power” at a premium, what percentage extra would you agree to pay on each bill? This money would support solar, wind, hydrogen, tidal and geothermal power generation.
