Something of a what if question here, but it’s something I’ve wondered about for a while.
Hypothetical:
A clean burning fuel is found that has almost zero emissions of green house and hydrocarbon gasses, and its waste is negligible. While the fuel is perfect in every way, there is a problem. Getting to the fuel requires clear cutting and strip mining, as current mining technologies are unable to reach the deposits. While this can be environmentally sound, with reclamation of the land and replanting of trees; there’s something of a more pressing issue. It turns out that a nearly extinct animal lives in the land that needs to be clear cut and mined. The animal has never bred in captivity, and the mining would destroy its habitat and ultimately eradicate it.
You’re in charge of the operation, and mining begins in three days unless you say no. It’s do or die, so what do you do?
Do you go ahead and mine, and hope for the best, chalking the species up to "for the greater good"; or do you hold off mining, knowing that it could cause fuel riots and would further strengthen your country’s dependence on oil.
So, what do you do and why?

I think that the warmer the climate, the more acidic the soil, which makes the color of grass more light-green to yellow as you go South.
Where as in Canada the grass is a darker shade of green whenever it isn’t brown.
Is this correct?
Summer grass is a darker shade of green in Canada.
On another note, where can I climb the trees and hang in the bushes in Canada?

This summer my friend and I really got into the whole going green thing. We have recycled even more, planted a tree, hugged trees (lol), and started doing those small things around the house. I love helping out with the environment and since school is starting I want my school to go green. How can I make this idea expand and work? I have thought of putting recycling bins outside and have small bins in classes. Also maybe turining off lights to conserve energy. Is it expensive to get solar panels for the school. My middle school did it, but i honestly do not know how. If you have any ideas to help me out that would be great.

insects, peeping inside intensely, to see what’s going on?
They like it better than the trees. And that they are extremely green?

New house could have better insolation, more efficient appliance, more green potential but it require all new materials to build.
Pro-own house may take some investment to make it energy efficient and green but you don’t contribute to destroy more trees, etc. for example.
How would you decide if you are in the market to buy a house?
I am not buying or building a house. It’s just a question I think useful for those who have plans to. Very helpful answers so far.

i'm doing a project on energy efficient homes, and i need a lot of tips.
i have to build a model so i want some suggestions on what to include on it.
i'm already going to have solar panels & a wind turbine, trees, double paned windows, efficient bulbs, lots of insulation…
but i need more ideas, help!
(also, is there a certain shape of house that is more energy efficient?)
and i know windows should be on the south side of the house…does anyone have any other types of tips such as that?
