Why is the green power light flickering on my GE chest freezer?

I have GE 7.0 Cu. Ft. Manual Defrost chest freezer.
I’ve recently noticed that the green power light on the bottom right corner of the freezer is "flickering"

Does anyone know why that is?
I looked in the trouble shooting guide and no info about it.

this is the freezer I have…

This light did NOT always do this. It just recently started flickering.
It is not hooked up to an extention cord or a powersaver cord or anything. it is plugged right into the wall.

It is probably a neon gas light, they do flicker in normal operation.
This is the same type light that is on extension cords that use the light as a power indicator.
If it was a filament type bulb it would not be able to handle the banging around that cords get.
    It is working properly.

EDIT: Is the light IN the switch, and does it only flicker when the freezer is running or does it flicker all the time?
IF we run out of time, email me.

Your light is going bad. The light only indicates you have power to the freezer and is on all the time. It does not indicate a freezer problem.
